The Quantify utility extracts data from a model to calculate quantities and generate specification text reports. The utility enables you to determine what reports to generate, the report layout, and the settings required to calculate quantities from the model.

Quantities and specification text are generated through a calculation procedure that is based on the graphic elements, parts, components, and formulas in the model; and the relationships that exist between them. For example, graphic elements must have part definitions to link them with components; components must supply information, such as units of measurement and cost, for quantity takeoffs; and formulas link the parts to the components and determine how the elements are measured for report data.
